EDISON - Ringing in the new year means ringing in big business for some New Jersey stores. Bakeries, delis, liquor stores and party-supply places all count New Year's as one of the busiest and most profitable times of the year.

At La Bonbonniere Bake Shoppe in Edison, the holidays are a time of sweet success. When News 12 New Jersey stopped by, customers were buying Italian cookies as well as baked goods for coworkers during what is traditionally a slower work week.

The Party Fair in Edison also had customers looking for noisemakers and other party favors.

The owner of Garden State Discount liquor in Perth Amboy tells News 12 New Jersey that New Year's Eve is one of the five biggest holidays for business.
