Rider University student Eliseo Diaz killed in crash with bus on Route 206

LAWRENCEVILLE - A Rider University student was killed in an overnight car accident just outside the entrance to the school.

School officials confirmed that 22-year-old Eliseo Diaz died in a crash at the south entrance to the school when Diaz' car collided with a bus that was attempting to turn out of university grounds. Diaz collided with the bus on Route 206.

Police say the crash occurred at 2:15 a.m. Witnesses say Diaz was speeding and his headlights were off.

A neighbor to the intersection says speed on Route 206 has been an issue even though the posted limit is 35 mph.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
