JERSEY CITY - The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office believes a retired Jersey City police officer found dead yesterday may have been killed during a botched burglary.

An autopsy has identified the cause of 68-year-old Frank Goggan's death as "strangulation by ligature" and noted evidence of blunt force trauma. The officer was found to be physically assaulted and had fractured ribs.

Authorities say no one has been charged, nor are there any suspects in Goggan's death at this time.
