LAWRENCEVILLE - New Jersey stores that sell gift cards will soon be collecting zip codes of the buyer. Two years after the purchase is made, any balance left over on the card will go to the state.

The move is expected to bring in millions of dollars a year, but many shoppers say they are not happy about the change.

American Express has already stopped selling its cards at New Jersey stores.
