RIDGEWOOD - Lawn chair real estate is at a premium for one north Jersey Fourth of July parade.

People have already staked out their spot for the Ridgewood Independence Day parade by setting up folding chairs along Maple Avenue, and even tying them together with bungee cords.

Residents say it's part of the tradition to ensure prime seating for the three-hour event, to begin reserving space more than a week ahead of time.

Locals say they abide by a strict honor code, which protects the chairs from getting moved or stolen.
