WAYNE - A group of residents in Wayne oppose the mayor's plan to convert commercial land into mixed use.
Some have posted signs on their front lawns to speak out against the idea.
The goal of the rezoning plan would be to attract new commercial and residential development in town, but opponents say it will change the atmosphere in Wayne.
"I don't think they should rezone it and bring in whoever they want to bring in here," says Bruce Kern. "It's just not going to work. We're crowded enough. If you look at Hamburg Turnpike, you can see how the traffic is there. It's abominable. It takes a half-hour to drive from one end of town to the other."
The mayor says the town will take citizen input into consideration before moving forward.
