HACKENSACK - The building inspector for Hackensack's Prospect Towers apartment building was expected to allow residents to return for the first time since July, but today he said the building still has safety concerns.
Joe Mellone said that even though workers have rehabilitated the building and the rooms, the building did not pass its fire inspection due to paint on some of the sprinklers.
Mellone anticipates that the building will be cleared Monday, but says that only 65 of 157 units will be reopened.
He says the rooms on the north face will not be reopened until construction on the garage is complete. Mellone also emphasized that the building is structurally sound.
