Residents in New Milford surprised by floods

NEW MILFORD - Streets in New Milford remain covered in water following downpours from this weekend.

People in the area are keeping a close watch on the nearby Hackensack River. Homeowner Julie Decker says that when she first moved in, she was told that the area only flooded every 100 years, but that she's seen it happen twice within two years.

Residents worked to get through the water that had flooded the streets, while children seemed to be enjoying the rain much more than adults.

Drivers have been advised to move their cars to higher ground.
