Resident, 4 firefighters injured in North Bergen house fire

The North Bergen fire chief says seven people were rescued from the burning building. (8/26/13)

NORTH BERGEN - One resident and four firefighters were injured in a fire at a multifamily home in North Bergen this morning.

The fire broke out at a home on 73rd Street near Jackson Street.

The North Bergen fire chief says seven people were rescued from the burning building. One of those seven was taken to an area hospital with an unknown injury. Three of the firefighters have been released from the hospital.

Of the four firefighters who were sent to the hospital, some suffered severe burns to their legs and others suffered smoke inhalation, according to the fire chief.

There is no word yet on what sparked the fire.
