Report: Teaneck fire victim was bound, stabbed, beaten

TEANECK - The Record reports that the woman found dead in her burning home late Tuesday night had stab wounds. The paper says she was also bound and beaten before her home was set on fire. Neighbors are now wondering if the attack was random or if it was payback.

The woman, Joan Davis, 74, regularly attended Town Council meetings in Teaneck. Past Mayor and current Councilmember Elie Katz says Davis did her homework before making comments, but adds her comments might have upset some people.

Some neighbors say they liked Davis, but others say she was difficult, paranoid and hard to deal with. Regardless of their feelings, they say the details of her death are disturbing.Related: Woman dead in 2-alarm Teaneck blaze
