Report: Officials probe security breach at PATH rail tunnel

Authorities are working to determine how a New Jersey man allegedly managed to walk along the tracks of a PATH tunnel from the World Trade

JERSEY CITY - Authorities are working to determine how a New Jersey man allegedly managed to walk along the tracks of a PATH tunnel from the World Trade Center to Jersey City yesterday, the New York Post reported today. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has confirmed the incident, but would not comment further.

According to the New York Post, Reymundo Rodriguez, 20, of Bayonne, walked into the tunnel, apparently past two Port Authority police officers between 2 a.m.- 3 a.m. Sunday.

Rodriguez was arrested after reportedly telling police he put a bomb on the tracks. No bomb was found.

The incident was one of two rail security breaches that occurred within hours of each other, said the report. Four men were arrested at an under-construction Second Avenue subway tunnel at about 4:30 a.m. The men were reportedly carrying Roman candles and cameras, according to the Post. They were arrested soon after the incident.

The apparent breaches come as security has been on high alert across the country after the death of Osama bin Laden. The New York Post report
