NEW BRUNSWICK - The University of Maryland Board of Regents has unanimously approved a move to the Big 10, ESPN.com reported this afternoon.
The decision paves the way for Rutgers University to join the conference.
Rutgers could reportedly follow suit and leave the Big East as early as tomorrow. That would leave the Big 10 with 14 schools.
The move for both schools is not expected to take effect until 2014. A conference change could bring millions of dollars to Rutgers.
An official decision has not yet been announced.
