NEW BRUNSWICK - Rep. Frank Pallone met with his constituents Tuesday to explain who will be eligible for the Affordable Care Act when it goes into affect at the end of this year.
Under the new legislation, if you don't have insurance, you'll need to buy it.
In New Jersey, the open enrollment period begins Oct. 1.
Pallone explained who will be able to take advantage of the new plan. "Those who are on the individual market who couldn't find affordable insurance or good benefits, or people that were uninsured," Pallone says. "Something like 13 percent of New Jerseyans who are not elderly have no health insurance. Now they can get it.”
Depending on their income, Pallone says, members may get help up to 80 percent off of their premium.
Pallone also encouraged those who already have health care to keep it if they are happy with their coverage.
