BERGEN COUNTY - A referendum to repeal the Blue Laws in Bergen County has been added to the November ballot.

Should the laws be repealed all stores would be allowed to remain open on Sundays.

The push was initiated by Modernize Bergen County, a community volunteer group that gathered 2,500 signatures to secure the referendum. It says it believes the repeal would lead to part time jobs in the county.

The repeal of the Blue Laws was also up for a vote in 1980 and 1993. It was shot down both times.
