Rash of burglaries in Millstone has residents on edge

MILLSTONE - State police in Millstone are urging residents to lock their windows and doors and keep security cameras on due to a rash of burglaries. About 10 to 15 houses in the western Monmouth County community are being hit by thieves every month.

Police say one of the issues in the rural community is that many of the homes are set back from the roadway, hidden by trees, and are away from their neighbors.

Millstone also does not have its own police department and relies on the state police.

Police have arrested five suspects since July that are believed to be responsible for a rash of break-ins.
