RAMSEY - The town of Ramsey said goodbye today to one of their own.

Army Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill was killed while serving his country. McGill, who grew up in Ramsey, was killed in Afghanistan on Sept. 21.

Hundreds lined Main Street to pay their final respects as McGill's flag-draped casket was taken through town in an antique fire truck. McGill was a volunteer firefighter and a 2001 graduate of Ramsey High School.

"Ramsey sticks together when it's a time like this," said Natalie Froehlich.

Mayor Chris Botta said McGill had many strong bonds within the community. "That shows today with the people who came out to pay their respects to him and his family," he said.

He was described as kind-hearted and neighbors say he will be missed.

McGill is the third soldier from Ramsey killed in the last three years while serving overseas.
