NEWARK - A rally was held in Newark Monday for a Mexican immigrant who faces deportation.

Catalino Guerrero lives in Union City with his wife and U.S.-born children. He came to the U.S. illegally more than 20 years ago from Mexico.

Guerrero says he faces deportation due to a filing error on official paperwork. Speaking through a translator, he says he has a work permit and has applied for asylum. "I got a letter from immigration that told me that I did not qualify for a political asylum and that my permit was not going to be granted no more," he says.

Guerrero has been ordered to buy a plane ticket by Aug. 28.

President Barack Obama is expected to announce major changes to his immigration policy that could include amnesty for people like Guerrero as early as early September.
