NORTH ARLINGTON - A North Arlington Catholic high school that was slated to be closed down has raised enough money to stay open.

Queen of Peace High School launched a fundraising effort at the end of May after the school learned that they needed to raise $1 million by the end of June or be forced to close down. They were given an extension after they raised thousands of dollars and were close to their goal.

The school announced Tuesday that it had raised $1,035,240, exceeding their goal.

“This achievement is validation by our alumni and friends of the excellent education we have come to expect from Queen of Peace High School,” Alumni Association President Michael Carucci said in a statement.

The money will be used for operating costs for another school year.
