NEWARK - A police chase that started with an alleged drug deal ended with a car against a building in Newark Thursday.

Sgt. Ron Glover says a suspect with a stolen Jeep was observed making a drug deal in the West Ward. When two officers approached him, police say he resisted and assaulted the officers before jumping into the Jeep and fleeing the scene

The driver crashed into a red car at University Avenue and Market Street, injuring a mother and daughter inside.

All three were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

The suspect will face charges including aggravated assault of a police officer, resisting and eluding.
