TETERBORO - Bergen County broke out the cheers today for a pair of four-legged football stars.

Puppies Eli and Tuck, of the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, are representing New Jersey as part of the starting lineup for Sunday's "Puppy Bowl."

The annual event airs Super Bowl Sunday on Animal Planet. It's meant to draw attention to the number of animals in shelters that are available for adoption.

Eli and Tuck were two of four pups abandoned near the shelter last October that were in the running for Sunday's game.

The referee in Sunday's puppy bowl also hails from Bergen County.
