Puppy bounces back after surviving dog fighting

LAMBERTVILLE - A pit bull named "Kelly" who is between 6-9 months old was found about two weeks ago, wandering the streets of Philadelphia.

The director of the Animal Alliance, Anne Trickle told News 12 New Jersey she thinks "Kelly" was "probably imprisoned in somebody's yard or basement and routinely used to instigate pit bull fights."

"Kelly" was covered with teeth marks and open wounds. She couldn't even eat because her jaw was broken. She was also emaciated and dehydrated. Rescuers at the Animal Alliance say "Kelly" was a desperate case and she probably would have died within a couple of days.

The organization is now nursing "Kelly" back to health and getting her ready for adoption. If you are interested in adopting from the Animal Alliance, it can be reached at 609-635-7006 or by visiting Animal Alliance
