MORRISTOWN - If your pooch needs to slim down for bathing suit season, there's a place he can go to get in shape.

The Morris Animal Inn in Morristown is running a fitness camp for canines all this week.

Dogs are put on treadmills, obstacle courses, and are even given swimming lessons.

You've heard the stats for humans, but the Association for the Prevention of Pet Obesity says 53 percent of dogs in the U.S. are either overweight or obese.

"They can have respiratory problems, kidney disease things like that," says Deb Montgomery, of the Morris Animal Inn. "So we're trying to make sure that it's fun. The dogs don't even realize they're exercising."
The fitness camp costs $249.
