PATERSON - Paterson Mayor Jeffery Jones walked out of the city council's public hearing on overtime pay this evening.
Mayor Jones and several members of his inner circle were issued overtime checks in the wake of Hurricane Irene. The checks were returned but the council's trying to find out why they were issued in the first place.
Jones says he'll be happy to cooperate with the council, but he needs more time to prepare.
The mayor is calling for these hearings to resume on Oct. 31 when he says he'll be ready to answer questions. However, several members of the city council are pushing to pursue obstruction of justice charges against the mayor.
