PSEG: Power restored after outage at Ridgefield facility

Public Service Electric and Gas (PSEG) says an outage at one of its facilities caused several thousand customers in southern Bergen County to lose power

RIDGEFIELD - Public Service Electric and Gas (PSEG) says an outage at one of its facilities caused several thousand customers in southern Bergen County to lose power this morning.

PSEG says an equipment failure caused an outage at its Ridgefield substation at around 8 a.m. The utility says power has been fully restored to its customers.

Almost simultaneously, a piece of equipment failed at the Waldwick substation. According to a PSEG spokesperson, that failure did not cause any outages.

Chopper 12 was over the scene in Waldwick. News 12 New Jersey also spoke to Frank Armstrong, who lives right near this substation. Armstrong says he saw the explosion and also felt his house shake.

PSEG says it is still investigating the situation and has not said whether the incidents were related.
