EDGEWATER - PSE&G says it has restored power to more than 24,000 customers within 90 minutes of an outage Thursday afternoon.
At the peak of the outage, the utility's website reported that more than 20,000 customers were without power in Hudson County and thousands were without power in Bergen County.
The utility says the outage was caused by a problem at the Bergen Switch.
Residents told News 12 New Jersey they had concerns about driving in the dark.
Others, waiting in line for the opening of "Hunger Games Catching Fire," worried the theater's screens would stay dark. But, the show went on at 8 p.m.
Towns affected by the outage included North Bergen, West New York, Guttenberg, Fairview, Edgewater, and Cliffside Park.
