Prudential retreats after KIYC pension investigation

BUDD LAKE - A Kane in Your Corner investigation got results for a retired Prudential employee who was told he owes the company $5,000.

Two month ago, Ray Goyette, of Budd Lake, told Kane in Your Corner that his former employer, Prudential, had been accidentally overpaying his pension for 16 years. He said the company wanted nearly $5,000 back after realizing the mistake.

Prudential had claimed it had no choice but to collect the overpayment under federal law, but Goyette was put in touch with an attorney who said that was not true.

After filing an appeal, Goyette received a letter from Prudential saying he would no longer have to pay back the overpayment.
