TRENTON - Members of the Trenton Historical Society are raising awareness in Trenton over proposed plans for an archeological dig site in the capital.

The area known as Petty's Run is located between the Statehouse and the Old Barracks. It holds the only known remains of one of America's first steel works.

State officials decided to fill in the area as part of a parks project, while bills to save it have stalled in the Legislature.

The group argues that the money used to fill the area could help save and protect the site.
