PROSPECT PARK - The mother of a Prospect Park elementary student says her daughter won't be able to receive a diploma unless she sells candy.

Susan Edwards, the mother of Mariah Edwards, who attends Prospect Park Elementary School No. 1, says she's had enough with selling candy to go on school trips. When she tried to take the candy back to her daughter's school, she says things didn't end so sweetly.

Edwards says she spoke with the school principal who told her Mariah wasn't going to be allowed to participate in any school activities, including graduation. Edwards says she's tried reaching school officials for an answer, but hasn't gotten one.

News 12 New Jersey tried to contact both the superintendent and the principal for comment, but didn't hear back. Edwards says she hopes to attend the next school board meeting in order to get answers regarding the situation.
