FREEHOLD - Monmouth County prosecutors say they will not allow any plea deals for the two teens accused in the murder of their missing former friend.

Liam McAtasney, 19, and Preston Taylor, 19, are accused in the murder of missing 19-year-old Neptune City resident Sarah Stern. Both appeared before a Monmouth County judge Thursday in two separate pre-indictment hearings.

McAtasney is accused of killing Stern in order to steal $7,000 from her. Court documents show McAtasney took Stern to her bank to withdraw her safe deposit box. The two then went back to her home where McAtasney allegedly strangled her.

He then called Taylor to help move the body, and throw it off the Route 35 Bridge into the Shark River. Her body was never recovered.

Two safe deposit boxes were found containing $7,000 and some of Stern's clothes in Sandy Hook and Shark River Parks.

The three teens were said to be good friends. Taylor and Stern went to their junior prom together as dates.

The case is now scheduled to go in front of a grand jury on April 3.

Plea deals could still be offered once the case moves past the grand jury stage.
