NEWARK - State and local law enforcement officials are cracking down on suspects caught carjacking as the number of incidents continues to rise in Essex County.
According to prosecutors, adults caught carjacking will now face federal charges and at least 15 years in prison if convicted. They say juveniles who commit the crime will also be charged as adults.
