EAST ORANGE - The death of a 90-year-old man found in his Essex County apartment this week has been ruled a homicide.
Essex County prosecutors announced the finding Wednesday. They say an autopsy determined that Henry Boyd died of compression of the throat and a fracture of the larynx.
The East Orange man was unresponsive when a relative found him on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Prosecutors have declined to release further details on the death, citing the ongoing investigation.
The county's major crimes task force is leading the probe into Boyd's death.
