WALDWICK - The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office has charged truck driver Ryon Cumberbatch in the death of Waldwick Police Officer Christopher Goodell.

Authorities say Officer Goodell's unmarked police car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer driven by Cumberbatch while he was parked along Route 17 Thursday morning.

Prosecutor John Molinelli says it appears from the investigation that Cumberbatch did not attempt to slow down or stop prior to the crash.

Officer Goodwell was operating a radar detector at the time of the crash. He was a five-year veteran of the department and served as a U.S. Marine. He's survived by his family and a fiancee.

Ryon Cumberbatch has been charged with one count of second-degree vehicular homicide. Bail has been set at $25,000.

Services for Officer Goodell will  be held Monday, July 21 at St. Luke's Church in Ho-Ho-Kus
