BAYONNE - The Hudson County prosecutor has filed charges against a garbage truck driver who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in Bayonne earlier this month.

Officials say Daniel Peek, 44, was driving without a commercial driver’s license when he hit Bayonne resident Caleb Serrano on Feb. 3.

Serrano was hit while trying to walk in the intersection of Avenue C and 55th Street just before 5 a.m. Officials say Peek stayed at the scene following the incident.

Peek was charged with causing a death while being an unlicensed driver. He also faces several traffic violations.
