EDISON - President Donald Trump may have been born and raised in New York, but he's certainly no stranger to New Jersey. In fact, Trump is the first president since Woodrow Wilson with such a robust connection to the state.

It all started in 1984 when Trump dipped his toes into the waters of New Jersey real estate, opening Atlantic City’s largest casino to date.

Harrah's at Trump Plaza opened. It was a $210 million, 39-story joint partnership between Donald Trump and Holiday Inn.

Soon after, Trump bought out shares of the property, renaming it Trump Plaza.

Trump Castle, which would become Trump Marina, opened in 1985. Then in 1990, The Trump Taj Mahal, the largest, most expensive casino in the world with a stunning $1 billion price tag, also opened.

Within a year, the Taj filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and now today, all three of Trump's former casinos are now shuttered.

But the president still has other properties in New Jersey, such as a 55-story skyscraper in Jersey City called Trump Plaza residences.

He also has three golf courses, Trump National Bedminster, Trump National Colts Neck, and Trump National Philadelphia, which is actually in Pine Hill, Camden County.

Trump already utilized one of his New Jersey properties for state business, hosting his transition team at the Bedminster golf club in November.
