Power restored at Newark Airport

NEWARK - The power is back on at Newark Liberty International Airport after there were outages in terminals A, B, C, as well as for 20,000 customers.

A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said flights were taking off and landing during the outage.

PSEG says that the outage was caused by an equipment failure at its Bayway Switching Station in Elizabeth. The outage also affected the communities of Hillside, Elizabeth, Union, Newark, Roselle, Linden, Kenilworth and Irvington.

In those towns, police had to man some of the traffic lights that were out during the outage.
