EDISON - PSE&G is reporting 20,000 customers without power, with about 15,000 of those due to the weather. JCP&L is also reporting 11,500 outages. PSE&G says about 8,000 are without power in portions of Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and Montclair. The power company says that their service was interrupted after power lines serving two substations approached their emergency ratings.
PSE&G says the company proactively interrupted customers to preserve the integrity of the power grid. Power was also interrupted earlier today to Jersey City and Hoboken customers, but has since been restored.
