Power mostly restored at the Jersey Shore

TRENTON - (AP) - Atlantic City Electric has restored power to about 5,400 homes and businesses in Ocean County that hadservice disrupted by an early afternoon thunderstorm.

Many of the outages were on Long Beach Island, where police hadto direct traffic because traffic lights were not operating.

By 4 p.m. Friday, service was restored to all but about 100customers.

The entire state remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until8 p.m.

Parts of northern New Jersey face a flood threat. Rivers andstreams are near their banks after storms dumped as much as 4inches of rain over the region on Thursday.

The Saddle River and Pascack Brook breached their banks, causingflooding in Saddle River, Westwood, Hillsdale and Ridgewood.

No one has been injured.
