UNION COUNTY - Snow, coupled with recent fluctuating warm and cold temperatures, led to the formation of several deep potholes on the Garden State Parkway during Friday’s morning commute.
At least a dozen cars sustained damage due to the severity of the potholes near mile marker 138.5 on the Cranford-Union border. Many had to stop along the road due to flat tires.
Road crews were able to temporarily repair some of the potholes in time for the evening commute.
Crews were expected to work overnight to make permanent repairs.
Motorists whose vehicles were damaged due to the potholes can file a claim with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
