SOUTH HACKENSACK - Time is running out for those that want packages and mail to arrive by Christmas Day. News 12 New Jersey visited the post office in South Hackensack where many were rushing to send out letters and packages.

George Flood, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service, tells News 12 New Jersey, "The U.S. Postal Service guarantees any first class letter or package mailed by Tuesday, Dec. 20 will arrive at its destination anywhere in the U.S. in time for Christmas."

Flood also says that in order for a package to make it on time if sent on Wednesday, it must be sent Priority Mail. For packages sent on Thursday, Flood says it must be sent out via Express Mail.

Flood says on Friday and Saturday, Christmas cards and packages with Express Mail postage may make it to their U.S. destinations by Christmas, but due to the sheer volume, there's no guarantee of delivery on or before Dec. 25.
