NEWARK - Port Authority officials are calling on the Transportation Security Administration to improve passenger screening services.

Port Authority officials sent a letter to the TSA stating they will no longer tolerate the inadequacy of passenger screening. The Port Authority is urging the TSA to add staff and points out that wait lines at screening points have risen dramatically in recent months.

Screening lines at Newark Liberty International Airport were so long Monday that some extended into the check-in area. Passengers said something needs to be done.

Last week, the TSA promised more staffing and an extension of its pre-check program. A spokesperson for the TSA said officials will reach out to the Port Authority about the letter.
