EDISON - Early this morning the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey raised the tolls on the Hudson River crossings it operates.

Cash tolls have been increased from $8 to $12. Drivers using E-ZPass will pay $9.50 for traveling during peak times and $7.50 at other times.

Many residents say this is the worst time to raise tolls on the bridges and tunnels.

"It's kind of the worst time to do it," says Ricky Kahy. "Everyone struggling and [it's a] tough economy."
