ELIZABETH - The Port Authority graduated 249 new recruits Friday, the largest class in the history of the force.

Three recruits are relatives of officers who died wearing the Port Authority Police uniform during the Sept. 11 attacks.

Jennifer Marrone is the cousin of PA Police Superintendent Fred Marrone, who died that day. She says joining the force is about taking an oath of service. "Now we're all held to a higher standard," she says. "We now have to run in when people are running out."

Fellow graduates Patrick Gorman and Liam Huczko are following in the footsteps of their fathers by joining the force. Both of their dads also died on Sept. 11.

For the grads, it is the first day that they can call themselves police officers. Aida Quintana's father is Newark City Councilman Louis Quintana. "I've been dreaming about this since I was a little kid. I always wanted to help my community like my father."

Including the graduates of the 113th recruit class, the Port Authority Police force grows to a total of 1,800.
