Poll: Obama, Menendez increase leads in NJ

TRENTON - A new poll finds President Barack Obama and U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez both hold double-digit leads over their Republican opponents in New Jersey.

The Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press Poll out today shows Obama leading Mitt Romney by 15 percentage points among likely voters, while Menendez holds an identical lead over state Sen. Joe Kyrillos.

The poll found 52 percent favor Obama, while 37 percent back Romney. In the last Monmouth poll issued in July, Obama held an 8-percentage-point lead.

In the state's U.S. senate race, Menendez was favored by 49 percent, while 34 percent back Kyrillos. Menendez led Kyrillos by nine percentage points in the last poll.
