Poll: NJ residents support Atlantic City revival

EDISON - A new poll says most New Jersey residents support the idea of reviving Atlantic City, but they don't agree with a state takeover.

The latest Quinnipiac poll found that 69 percent of residents want Atlantic City to become a greater destination spot so it can bring in more money for the state's economy.

Governor Chris Christie wants to do just that by giving the state more control in policing and developing the area. However, the poll found that 46 percent are opposed to state intervention.

Residents were also asked about the state's involvement in horseracing. Among those polled, 44 percent say the state should continue its role in the industry, while 39 percent disagreed and 16 percent say they're still undecided.
