ELIZABETH - Police say a woman wielding two knives was shot by an officer responding to a domestic incident early Monday morning.
Patrol units responded to an apartment on Elm Street in Elizabeth just before 1 a.m. Monday to encounter the woman, who police say reacted aggressively to the presence of officers.
Investigators say the officers used pepper spray in an unsuccessful attempt to subdue the woman. They say officers then tried to maneuver an object into her path to prevent her from attacking them, but that an officer was forced to draw his firearm.
