SADDLE BROOK - The Saddle Brook Police Department is looking for a woman and a young boy who allegedly stole a cellphone from the Habachi Grill and Buffet restaurant in town.

According to officials, a family was dining at the restaurant and accidently dropped the phone by the entrance. Surveillance video shows a woman direct a child to pick up the phone and then hurry out of the restaurant.

Saddle Brook Police Chief Robert Kugler says that this was a theft and they are looking for the woman.

“What should have happened is that she should have had [the boy] bring it to the counter and/or to the attention of the restaurant employees or to the family that the phone belonged to. Shame on her and she needs to be held accountable,” Chief Kugler said in a statement.

The boy that picked up the phone was described as being Hispanic, approximately 11 to 13 years old, wearing a yellow and blue jacket and blue jeans.  The woman who reportedly directed him to take the phone was described as being Hispanic, approximately 20 to 30 years old, wearing a black coat and dark jeans and was about 5 feet 2 inches tall.

Anyone who may recognize the woman and boy should call the Saddle Brook Police at 201-843-7000.
