Police: Woman badly beaten in Franklin Township

Police say there were signs of a struggle in the woman's bedroom. (4/28/14)

SOMERVILLE - Detectives in Somerset County are looking for the person responsible for the violent assault of an 18-year-old woman.

Police say the woman was found badly beaten outside a home on Vanderbilt Avenue in Franklin Township at around 6:30 a.m. They say she suffered several stab wounds and a head injury. She was rushed to a hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

Investigators searched the woman's home and found signs of a struggle in her bedroom. No one else was home at the time of the assault.

The woman's car was stolen from the home. Police are looking for a 2009 black four-door Mazda 6 bearing the New Jersey plate YHX-85W. 

Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call the police. Police warn that the driver of the vehicle may be armed and dangerous.
