HOBOKEN - Police in several communities around New Jersey are warning people about the increase in package thefts during the holiday season.

Oceanport police say they have had numerous reports of thieves snatching boxes that were delivered to residents' front doors.

One woman says she was targeted several times and that the thieves stole a package containing pet food she was planning to donate.

Another woman claims packages were stolen off her front porch.

Oceanport police say thieves follow trucks, track movements and stick to roads where they can make a quick getaway.

Hoboken police are also warning people living in the area to be wary this holiday season when it comes to packages being delivered to their homes.

On Thursday, Hoboken police say they arrested a 67-year-old homeless man for stealing packages along Park Avenue.

Ricardo Ramirez has been charged with burglary and theft.
