EDISON - A utility worker was killed, and another injured, after one accidentally touched a power line in Edison this afternoon.

Edison police say two employees of Tower Maintenance were contracted by PSE&G to paint some utility poles along Route 1.

After touching one of the power lines, the one worker fell and knocked his co-worker off the pole, according to police. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Route 1 was closed for nearly an hour as a result of the incident.
