Police: Teen attempted to kill own father

NUTLEY - Police say a Nutley man is recovering after his own teenaged son allegedly attempted to kill him.

According to authorities, the attack happened Sunday night inside the family's home on Chestnut Street. Police say the man's wife came home to find the 64-year-old in a pool of blood and their 17-year-old son in the bathroom washing blood off his hands.

Police Lt. Steve Rogers says it appears the man was cut several times with a pizza cutter and beaten in the head with a broomstick.

Officials say the teenager is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder.
